Custody Sergeant
The Custody Sergeant is the police officer responsible for accepting an arrested person into custody and for making sure that you are treated correctly (your rights). A Custody Sergeant is on duty 24/7 at every custody area. They are responsible for such things as making sure that you are fed, receive medical attention if required, get legal advice and if you’re aged 17 or under that a suitable adult is available to sit in on any interview.
