A suspect is the person thought to be responsible for committing an offence. If this is you, you may have been arrested at the scene of a crime or at a later time following an investigation. It might be that you were arrested straightaway or that a warrant was issued for your arrest, but when either of these things have happened it means that legal proceedings are active.
You will be arrested by the arresting officer and usually taken to a designated police station (one with a custody area).
